Mantras and Meditations

My shelves have long been filled with daily meditation books ~ some of which I have read over and over again for many years. The messages I receive have an uncanny way of showing up at the perfect time being exactly what I needed to hear in that moment.

Written meditations can be a jumping off point ~ a point of focus that can be used in your traditional meditation practice. Perhaps, one line or a single word will serve as a mantra for you to keep coming back to your center when you find yourself drifting off in a swirl of thought.

It has been said that prayer is when we talk to God/Source and meditation is when we listen. The use of mantras and written meditations can be a means of setting intention as we slow down internally so we can hear the wisdom that is bubbling up.

Speaking of intention setting, written meditations and mantras can be helpful as you declare your path for the day ~ the energy and essence you wish to bring into your day as your experience.

In fact, you can create a mantra or a meditation that encompasses your vision and intention for anything you wish to experience or create. This process can be used to set the stage for your next project, for healing a relationship, for enhancing your contribution in the world as a Service Provider.

Affirmations and Mantras

If you’ve worked with affirmations in the past, then this will sound familiar to you. In fact, we are always working with affirmations. We are affirming certain conditions and experiences in our lives all the time. The question is what am I affirming? And is it really a clear expression of the truth of my heart and my core authenticity? Is it really what I wish to experience?

The best affirmations start with “I am” ~ two of the most powerful words because whatever follows takes on greater energy for becoming in our lives. Even more than this, your emotional investment in your words will skyrocket your intentions into the stratosphere. Feel what you are saying and intending deep within your heart and you are halfway there already.

Repeating your affirmations with heartfelt intention turns your words into mantras. And that becomes something you can live by.

The Process of Becoming

Have you experienced times in your life when you know that something is changing and shifting? Maybe, you have been actively trying to change something in your life without any evidence in the physical that anything is happening. Then suddenly, in the most quiet and subtle ways, you begin to sense that the shift is afoot.

It didn’t show up as you thought it would and you couldn’t really prove it to anyone else, but deep inside of you, you know it’s happening. You can feel it.

This is such a time for me.

Yesterday, I came across an old note I had written in a small notepad in my purse. I think it came from an article I had read in an airline magazine this past year. The article was about a successful chef and his process of creating amazing food and restaurants. He talked about using a mantra in his kitchen ~ one that not only spoke to the quality of the food being prepared but took into consideration the experience of the patrons and the wellbeing of those who created the edible art.

He acknowledged that much time had passed between the development of this mantra and the creation of it in reality. And that is what a mantra is all about ~ a guidepost of words and energy that will eventually serve to bring into manifestation our deepest most heartfelt intentions.

I woke up the other night with words pouring into my thoughts ~ I grabbed my phone and started writing them down in a note.

As I step onto this path, I am reminded to pack all I need to travel safely and serenely. I can share with others I meet along the way and I must also be open to receive when my supply is insufficient. I trust that all my needs will be provided for and I will be sustained and abundantly blessed.

There is much wisdom and guidance that can be gleaned from the beautiful words that are contained within my meditation books. These passages can serve as a beacon of light when I cannot find my own words.

And there is great power in creating personal meditations and mantras that bring divine energy into tangible use in my life.

Let’s get started.
